Louisbourg Light (Matted)

Well, the last week has certainly been eventful. Aspirations of getting everything into one place was moving along… then, my computer began having problems. After hours searching support websites and performing recommended fixes and resets, I thought the darn thing was fixed and cyber life could continue. Two hours into Wednesday, everything crashed; gray screen, nothing. Hours again spent on the same recommended repairs and resets with no success. As if being a few thousand miles from home wasn’t enough and no Apple store to in which take my laptop; the stress of things to accomplish and no way to get them done was an all to glaring reality. With the help of my wife, who conference connected me to my local Apple store, an accommodated schedule was devised with the with the lead technician’s (genius’s) help. Flight schedules were changed and home I flew. Fifty minutes after landing at the airport, I was in the Apple store with my comatose machine to purchase a new machine and deal with the ever ominous data transfer. The only difficulty, was my old machine able to awaken enough so technicians could grab the data residing on its hard drive. The folks at the Station Park Apple Store were ready, had a plane in place, ran diagnostics, found that there remained enough life to grab everything on the hard drive; the assigned genius was anxious to get started. I checked back the following day to see how things were going and was informed that they had indeed retrieved all of the data and programs, they also told I was ready to go. they asked me to power-up the new machine, and to my immense pleasure, it looked exactly as the old one did before it drifted into everlasting somnolence. Data and programs retrieved, up and functional (which is why you are even seeing this today) and back to cyber productivity. Thanks to the folks at the Station Park Apple Store; can’t thank you enough for your attentive customer service and for rapidly getting me up and running again.

Peggy’s Cove Light

Peggy's Cove Light House (FA Matted)

There are sites that have been shot to death by camera. This is one of those sites — imaged with everything from iPhones to large format cameras — but, if you have ever been to Peggy’s Cove, the light is irresistible. This is one of the quintessential sites of Nova Scotia. Sitting on a stark point of granite, it guards and marks the eastern entrance to St. Margarets Bay. I had to go out and shoot the light. The first morning’s attempt was fraught with rain, which proved impossible to keep the lens clear. That afternoon, perfect clouds and few people. The village of Peggy’s Cove is still an active fishing village — very small; something around 50-60 year-round residents.
