Impending Storm
From my office vantage point on the 25th floor, I have a pretty good view of incoming storms. This one was unique in that it began to exhibit what appears to be a funnel. Whether or not there was rotation in the clouds remains unknown, but the coming storm was darned impressive.
We are pretty fortunate…fortunate to be blessed with some spectacular sunsets. During the monsoonal flow during part of July and August, thunderheads blossom, thunderstorms bluster, and the remains leave some of the most beautiful sunsets imaginable. Fortunate am I to be able to view these from my deck, which provides a great deal of convenience. Slow on the uptake sometimes, I languish in the evening and have managed not to capture on digital media some of the most spectacular. During the hot months of summer, the Brine Flies explode and it seems nothing, including 100% Deet, will deter the nasty little buggers from biting. So the internal battle begins; sunsets between which, shutter triggering is interrupted by swats at those little, biting nucances, or watch from another location that is far safer from the biting hordes. This happened to be one of those occasions, when, having a lapse in self-preservation from biting bugs, I sat on a rock for the better part of an evening into night, endured the onslaught and was treated to a rather nice surprise, The tedium of slapping flies so small they can hardly be seen, I think, was worth tolerating.
