End of the Day

End of the Day(Flattened_Matted)

Beginning in 1973, this became my playground and part–time office and for a couple of years, my full-time office. At the end of the day on a particularly snowy and quite day in January 2005 this was the parting view just prior to closing lifts. Unusual in that most often, one will not find snow such as this after skiers and snowboarders have eked out every inch of usable pristine snow. Making final turns of the day, I turned off a run through the trees and found this wonderful, serene, and peace spot. This was the “End of the Day” and a scene that at its location will seldom reveal itself again.

In parting, at the end of a tumultuous year for my wife and me; I leave you with this peaceful scene and wish you peace, health, and all the good things the holidays are to enjoy…

Merry Christmas (FB)

And a moment of remembrance for the peacekeepers who gave the ultimate sacrifice:

Marshmallow

Marshmallow(Flattened_Matted)

This photograph was taken on the same day as an early posted photograph: Alone. Morning temperatures were hovering around a balmy –20°. We headed out early in search Big Horn Sheep and found ourselves to be the only car on the highway and early enough to place first tracks on the unplowed pavement. Over the course of the morning, we may have seen a couple more cars, but we had the highway on the north side of Hebgen and Earthquake Lakes to ourselves. We, included my wonderful and beautiful wife, who, as usual, turned out to the more intelligent by staying inside the car, on a heated seat and quite warm and comfortable. I, on the other hand was post–holing my way off the side of the road. As my reward, I was able capture this soft, serene exhibition of marshmallow – like softness. Not a mark or track. How fleeting are these experiences; how few… Sit back and enjoy the calm serenity; let it absorb you.

On the River

On the River(Flatttened_Matted)

On the river along Hwy 35 in Utah during the closing hours of autumn. Weather report indicates the possibility of snow flurries on the valley floor this weekend. So long to autumn, hello to the dreary brown transition until the stark blanket of white arrives.
